Title: Dragon and Bat Vase
Post by: williamh on Dec 18, 2017, 09:04:33
I can't see the bottom without disassembling it. It comes with a receipt stating it was bought in Hong Kong in 1989 and it says it's at least 100 year old. How old does it look to you?

The decoration for this type is the worst I have seen, it had to be new when purchased.

These dragon and bat motif vases abound in the replica market. The original would come from the Guangxu period I think. I would be cautious of such designs. Some fakers even drill them for lamps to make them look older.

Yes Bokaba, I agree, but some of them are really good and not that old.
