Title: Hat stand
Post by: konniela on Dec 06, 2017, 02:37:58
Hello again to everbody,

I am interested in this hat stand. It is an auction, so I have to wait, how it develops.

But first I will see, if I made my homework well.  Hat stands with a number of holes cut into the body were made approximately from Daoguang to Tongzhi. From Guangxu the holes disappered. So this hat stand is may be made from 1821 to 1874. Decoration and colours looks right for me. The mark I can not classify properly. But it can also be a fake.

What do you mean ?

It has an apocryphal Qianlong mark, but the decoration is from the Guangxu reign.

So now I understand, why this piece made no sense to me.  Form, decoration and mark do not match.

It is a pleasure to learn here.

Thank you
