Title: Help with identifying age and mark of this Chinese porcelain buddha 2
Post by: nonstopmuzik on Dec 04, 2017, 01:58:27
Hello, this is also a Buddha that I've recently purchased. Any ideas about age and the mark?

Thanks in advance!

Made by Zhu Yi-shun, a sculpture craftsman of the republic period, who was apparently specialized on this type of figurines.

Dear Peter, if you have the time, could you also take a look at my other buddha that I've posted on this forum? Having the same problem with it.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm and Stan have already mentioned possible problems.I would also have thought that the gilt might have been later added. Most Budai figurines are basically white, some all white, some with fencai enamels for the clothing, etc.
Whatever, in this state it can not have the value it would have without the gilt, even if it is republic period.
