Title: Red lotus temple jar
Post by: ssbill on Nov 16, 2017, 23:33:33
I saw this online selling as floral ginger jar. Looks like red lotus temple jars to me. It is hand painted and show some age signs (see third pictures). I have asked to seller for photos of the bottom. Thanks

get a picture of the inside lid also, usually that is a dead giveaway from old to new.

And also one of the bottom, please. This should never be missed.

BTW, this is called 'coral red' in Chinese, and it is neither a temple jar nor a ginger jar. Ginger jars have a neck.

I can't upload a new picture. It says the website can't handle the request. The size is 193kb Any idea why?

Maximal attachment size per attachment is 200 kB, or 400 kB per post. I would try again, but first reduce file size a little. The size calculation of server and actual file size may differ somewhat.

It worked. I had to downsize and reshape. I don't have a picture of the bottom of the lid yet. The qianlong mark does not look right... Is it stamped?

This foot rim and the type of spurious Qianlong mark point to an item of the second half of the 20th century, in my opinion.
