A good overview of the whole decoration and a side view, showing the bowl shape, is also needed for evaluation.

By the looks of the bottom it looks old, late 19th century Japanese.

That is what it looks like, Stan. It is necessary to verify if it is Japanese. But it is also necessary to check if this is a bowl, or the lid of a bowl.  The angle the pictures was taken with distorts the shape too much. This type of decoration was also produced in Europe, as far as I know, but it is less likely European.

Hi Kardinalisimo, I know it is not Chinese but it has a Japanese look to it to me, Peter could be right, it could be European, I was just going by instinct.
