Title: Porcelain on bronze
Post by: ssbill on Nov 08, 2017, 14:23:42
Hi
This is a mid century lamp I own. The porcelain seems much older than the bronze and it looks chinese to me. I can't see the bottom because of the  foot.  Does it look chinese to you? Thank you

I? it is Chinese, it is probably not older than the first half of the 20th century. The shape of the carrying lugs, the comparatively long neck and the color of the crackles is nothing traditional Chinese.
The crackling shows some indication that the item was thrown on a wheel that turns in the opposite direction which the Chinese wheels normally do.

So it could be Japanese, their potters wheel turns to the left as you have mentioned before Peter.
