Title: SEALED UNOPENED Green glazed salt jar?
Post by: smak on Nov 01, 2017, 07:23:38
Hi guys,

I recently acquired this jar and have no idea what it is or whats in it. It has been sealed and unopened. Ive seen these jars for sale before and was stated to be salt jars but I am not sure and hope to find out more!

When were these made?
What are they used for?
What could be in it? (I hope theres gold lol)

Thanks!

This is commonly assumed to be a tea jar made in southern China, Guangdong province, possibly at Shiwan kiln. This is most likely not porcelain but earthenware or stoneware. Such jars are late Qing to early republic.
