Title: Ovoid shaped ginger jar kangxi?
Post by: Stan on May 11, 2014, 08:09:13
Hi Peter, here is a small ginger jar that might be early Qing, it measures 20.32 cm. High and the width is 16.51 cm., I do not think that it is Kangxi because there is only 4 shades of blue and the unglazed areas have a tannish color to it but it has all the old age signs that you would expect in an antique, thanks; Stan.

Hi Stan, I'm hesitating to confirm it as Kangxi, despite several features that would be right. I can only say Qing dynasty, probably 18th century, Yongzheng or Qianlong.
The mountains and trees would be right, but the water is usually painted in a different way with Kangxi decorations. Here the water looks as if it was a bit later.
