Title: Tiny antique bowl
Post by: Shan on Jul 31, 2017, 04:48:23
Hi

Does anyone have any idea of the age or value of this exquisite little bowl/sake/sauce cup? No idea what it is actually for. Tried searching for it, no luck. It has gold leaf painted on it.

Any help would be very much appreciated. All I know is that it is quite old.

Thank you
Shan

The central blue decoration looks as if it was printed or stamped. That would mean it is 20th century, I'm afraid. You can check with a magnifier whether there are the typical traces of brush strokes. The colors may be handpainted.

Thank you Peter. Yes, think you are correct. The colors and gold definitely handpainted. So, not worth anything?

The red color is also printed. This type of porcelain is still made today, and it has little collecting value unless it is at least Qing dynasty.
