It would be interesting to know if there is any Chinese script or decoration on the back of the piece?

Wait for a specialist opinion , But I think you have a very nice Republic period lidded jar , nicely painted .

Maybe 1920's

I am not sure if the discussion leading to selling is allowed on the forum , but I am sure you will have no problem selling it.

Yes I agree, first quarter of the 20th century, lidded jars like these are hard to find with the lid, it is more collectable with the lid.
