Title: Shimazu Pair of Vases
Post by: bokaba on Jul 15, 2016, 15:17:56
Shimazu pair of satsuma vases. The bottom is marked with the Shimazu clan crest and then "satsuma." I have seen this mark for the Taisho period. I would think late 1920s, but my concern is how bright the gold trim on rim is and how modern the decoration looks.

The gold is OK for the 20's but the Shimazu crest looks like it was added at a later date, the mark looks like Gyozan.
