Title: Four mark Kangxi blue bowl
Post by: heavenguy on Jul 13, 2016, 02:05:41
I bought some pieces and this piece came with them. The only thing I know its that 4 character marks are late Qing Guanxu. probably early 20th century.  But I still have my doubts. I'm not sure but it looks to new to be early 20th century. You guys think this is more of a recent piece more than the Kangxi revival from the early 20ths...

thank you in advance.

Hi Heavenguy, Im not sure that Kangxi period signed there porcelain this way, however I know that they did in the Guangxu period, Kangxi revival, but I have my doubts that this is Guangxu period, the inside is done in a Ducai style and the dragon looks pretty bad as far as quality, I think this is a modern copy.

The outlines of the dragon look as if they were made with some sort of printing, the the colors were added in a desultory fashion. The flat face of the foot rim does not look like Qing dynasty one, I would expect a narrow rim. Overall the glaze looks too pristine to be very old.
