Title: Japanese Charger ceramic
Post by: carlyoung on May 29, 2016, 03:00:03
Hi all

I have had this Japanese looking charger large plate for ages and have found out nothing about it , I never seen anything like it before , The shape looks oriental and the relief decoration looks Japanese to me.

Brown orange peel glaze on what looks like a Terracotta body .

Any thoughts?

Hi Carlyoung, the decoration with the Chrysanthemums is a typical Japanese design, the 16 peddle leaf Chrysanthemum is used for the imperial segneia, this is an unusual glaze, I have never seen this type before, the foot rim is a 20th century foot.
