Title: Rectangular Vase
Post by: bokaba on May 22, 2016, 15:09:08
Rectangular vase with enamel featuring lotus blossom, bats, and crickets. Any idea as to the age? I think maybe early People's Republic (late 1940s or 1950s).

Mark characters not clearly visible, but if the first two are ??, then this 'must' be 1960s or later. Before that the normal writing would be ??. This does not concern apocryphal marks, which might use the latter even today. Further, no marks mentioned '??'  or  '??' before the mid-20th century.
The crackling on the bottom is artificially induced, and the foot rim looks as if it might have been made in a mold or injected.
