Title: Porcelain box
Post by: Adriano on Apr 21, 2016, 20:26:12
I bought this piece in a flea market time ago.
I think it is Chinese for the subject and style, but there is no mark.
Probably is a copy of export porcelain for the American market of the 18th century.
Incidentally, there is a wrong flag direction respect to the wind, if a copy, why this mistake?
It seem to be neither old nor very new because there are some signs of age.
I see very few spots of rust (p_1) and some cracks, one of this burnished (p_2).
I will appreciate to have an idea of the period.

Regards,
Adriano

The waves along the rim of the lid are really the only one that has some resemblance to Chinese.
In my view this is more likely western.
