This is a temple jar. Looks like a low quality fake not made in China. The painter did not know Chinese painting styles.  I bet the mark, if visible, would also show that whoever did it tried to imitate Chinese characters without knowing any Chinese.  Possibly made in SE Asia or elsewhere.

As I thought, the mark is crap. Age? This is not authentic, so no telling any age. It can be fake too...
