Title: Chinese painter's box?

Hello-

I am looking for some information on the attached item. I believe it to be a
Chinese painter's box but I really do not know. I would like to know any information you can supply on this, age and history etc.

Hi I'am no expert -to me it looks Japanese and the mark looks like the Fuku mark for happiness.
Some one will tell you for definet.

I would also lean to Japanese, judging by what I see of the lid.
