Post by: Stan on Feb 26, 2016, 02:19:53
Hi Peter, I won this at an auction, it is in the Qianjiang style, could you tell me if their is a date and what the text says, the size is 56.3 cm tall, the black characters do not look fresh, they look like they are old, the wood frame is oxidized, I will post 6 photo's, thanks for your expert opinion.

Hi Stan,
It says mad by Shi Xiao-shan, the cyclical year could be ??. Not sure about the second character, but there is no other choice, the stroke order would correspond to ?.
Would correspond to the year 1879 or 1939. I do not know this Qianjiang painter.

I think that 1939 sounds right for Qianjiang, I will see if I can find any information about the artist, thanks Peter.
