Title: Unmarked ceramic lotus bowl with thorns - Blanc de chine ?
Post by: Lewis on Jan 29, 2016, 23:00:08
I picked this bowl up at an estate sale because I thought it looked obviously handmade and I thought the thorns were fascinating. Researching, the closest I've come are Blanc de chine bowls which apparently are always white (while this one has pink and green.) And the ones I've seen usually lack the thorns present on this piece.  I'm no expert on ceramic or porcelain but there are lots of dark specks and characteristics of the glaze that make me think it could be of considerable age. I'm really stumped! Thanks in advance!

This does not look Chinese at all to me, maybe European.
