Title: Vase with sgraffito
Post by: Stan on Jan 19, 2016, 07:26:00
Hi Peter, looking at the sgraffito under a 10x loop looks like this is done by hand, that would be an enormous amount of work, it is all different and it looks like it was scratched on by a very sharp tool, can you tell me how old you think this is, Thanks.

Hi Stan, in my view this is second half of 20th century.
This is the most common sgraffito decoration I know, there are others. They are also found on modern copies. They are impressed, I am told. You can not depend on "hand-made" or "laborious" work for being old or valuable. At JDZ even now many porcelains are hand-painted.
