Title: Is this ginger jar a republic piece?
Post by: Hmm on Jan 16, 2016, 13:31:48
I seem to recall someone here saying they prefer when the faces are outlined in red.  Overall the piece seemed to look older to me.

Thanks.

About 1920s or 30s I would think, judging by painting style and bottom.

This jar would have had a lid with similar decorations.

Hi yes. It does come with a lid.  Unfortunately the lid has some wear to the enamels around the faces.  Also the foo dog tail looks like it was chipped off.  Hopefully I didn't over pay for it with these defects.

I took much clearer pictures.
