Title: Rouleau vase
Post by: Stan on Jan 11, 2016, 03:19:27
Hi Peter, can you tell me how old this is and anything about the characters would be helpful, the vase is 48.9 cm tall and has nice age signs, bubbles in the glaze rust spots, dimples  and pitting inside, thanks.

Hi Stan, this could be export porcelain. I seem to recognize the underlying bee hive pattern as existing in some Qing export vases, although they did not have the character decoration. I would rather think this to be mid to late Qing.
There are two ruyi bands (along the base and shoulder). The main decoration is a multitude of variations of the longevity character (shou).
