Title: Flambe vase
Post by: Stan on Oct 05, 2015, 05:15:25
Hi Peter, this vase is 27.3 cm high and is heavily potted for its side, the glaze has pitting throughout and inside there is glaze shrinkage and some pitting, the drip glaze was more controlled than other flambe glazes that I have seen, it is more even at the foot, the shape  and four elephant heads and trunk are a little unusual but a very nicely done vase, your expertise is appreciated, I will post 11 photo's to view, thanks.

Probably late Qing, judging by the base. This is not a standard vase shape. Vases with such a body shape usually have a much longer neck.
