Title: Large scenic vase
Post by: Qst42know on Sep 16, 2015, 04:51:52
The mark on this vase does not seem to be a reign mark at least none that I have been able to match up.

Would this be a studio mark of some kind?

Hello Peter.

I see this has been moved. Japanese perhaps?

Can you read the mark?

Thanks Chris

Yes, Japanese. I am not sure what the third character is, but the first two ?? are either a person's or place name (Japanese names are often the same as place names, and there are different readings according to person/place). Maybe someone else knows what this exactly is.

Do you see any clues in the style or techniques for an age estimate?

Japanese porcelain is not my speciality. Please wait and see if someone knows more about it.
