Title: Is this a Guangxu ginger Jar or fake???
Post by: heavenguy on Sep 08, 2015, 06:22:12
Hello,

I bought this lamp that was turned into a lamp but fortunately they did not drill a hole on the bottom. I have seen some similar pieces online dated as "late Qing" possibly Guangxu. The only thing that makes me doubt is the bluish color it has. If you look on the bottom, it even has like a part in wish it looks more blue like if it was painted. any information provided will be of much appreciate it.

The body of this ginger jar has clear age signs, but the blue color looks more like chemical than mineral pigments were used. Even with that blue color it may still be a bit earlier than Guangxu. Perhaps mid-19th century.
