Title: Yuan Jar Authentic?
Post by: Maritess Nacua on Sep 06, 2015, 22:33:20
Hello there experts.  Please help me identify this jar I've seen today. I plan to buy it if it is an authentic piece.  Thank you for your help.

Don't!  This is a fake. The bottom alone gives it away. No Chinese antiques no matter how old do have such a bottom. The colors are odd too, but the the way the hare and the rest is painted gives the impression that it was not painted in China at all. Be careful with so-called Yuan wares. In SE Asia there are mainly only small vessels to be found. The large ones are few in numbers. Less than a hundred authentic ones are known, most are in museums in the middle east.
