Title: Rice grain vase. recent or old.
Post by: heavenguy on Aug 19, 2015, 04:55:24
Hello,

I bought this in an antique shop. I know there is a lot of modern Rice Grain wares but I was wondering if did okay on this one and if it is at least more than vintage. What cought my attention was the bottom rim and base. Thank you in advance.

It is either vintage or modern, in my opinion. Vases are a little less frequent, but tea wares are still being made and used today. They look similar to the older ones.
Unless you know what to look for in 19th century porcelain of this type I would suggest abstaining from buying these, especially the underglaze blue ones. As the large bulk was  probably made in the 20th century, you are more likely to find a newer one. Which naturally means that they are easier to be found. Buy these only if they are not expensive.
Old ones do sometimes have marks, but differ little in design.
