Post by: alliececilr on Jul 16, 2015, 11:23:49
This has old chinese inscribed on it.  It looks old.  Have no clue what it is.  Do you?

Looks like a modern pottery hot pot jar to me...

Hi Peter.  Thanks again for responding.  I showed this pot to a chinese neighbor and he was unable to read it.  He said it was written in old chinese and he felt it was extremely old.  He thought at first it could possibly be a lid but then saw the wear marks from sitting just like a bowl so he changed his mind about that.

Some characters are unclear, but this is exactly the same Chinese writing as used today in Hong Kong and Taiwan. And the shape is exactly what I see in use now, only that they use metal ones. So, my opinion is not some wild assumption.

Thanks Peter.  I know you are very knowledgeable and that is why I have come to this site.  I am inexperienced and trying to learn some tidbits from a vast overwhelming subject.
I appreciate your time.  Thanks.
