Title: Help with identification please
Post by: Sal on Jun 01, 2015, 01:23:30
Hi there,

I am hoping someone can help me. The pictures show a pot with a wooden stand and top that was amongst several pieces of porcelain we inherited. I've been able to identify others as they were European but this is my favourite and I'd love to know what it is and whether it is modern or older. When you run your fingers over the pot you can feel the decoration so I'm guessing it is painted. The only mark on the base is on the rim, shown in one of the photos.

Many thanks.

Looks like a wucai decoration. Possibly late Qing or early republic period.

Many thanks. I know very little about oriental porcelain - does the mark (character?) on the rim have any significance?

No. That is not a mark.
