Title: Xuande Blue and white dish
Post by: erwanto on May 22, 2015, 01:47:33
hello Peter,

A few months ago, I bought this dish from a Chinese collector.  He has good knowledge of Chinese culture. He made a beautiful Chinese calligraphy ( this is a personal judgment though, as I don't read Chinese. But he seems do not aware what the fakers nowadays do to make their piece almost look like an original one.  This thought also goes to this plate. it has Ming Xuande reign mark. is this also period. But I love this plate. To me it has a very detail and carefully painted. However, Im still a novice in Chinese porcelain. May be my dish it's just an old replica. (Diameter 41.20 cm, height 7 cm).

Any suggestion always welcome

Greetings

Wan

Hi, I'm afraid this is not the right place to judge imperial level wares. You will have to find a museum expert for this.

Hi Peter,

I was also surprise to see that plate at the old Chinese collector.
Currently I live in Indonesia, it's very hard to find yuan and early Ming vessels.
I will follow your suggestion.
