Post by: Stan on May 15, 2015, 01:55:15
Hi Peter, I picked this up at an estate sale, I did not pay much, but it looked interesting, I looked up Sawankhalok in line and appears to be SE Asia, northern Thailand ceramics from the 14 and 16th centuries, do you know anything about this other than what is on the label, I will post 8 photo's, the size is 6.3 cm wide and 5.5 cm high, thanks for viewing.

I know only that it is one of two or three major kilns or ceramic centers contemporary to the Ming dynasty.  This one could be a shipwreck item.

Thanks Peter, this came from an estate that had a lot of shipwreck items, it was said that the man that passed away found most of his items off the coast of Japan, this item was not marked as shipwreck like the other items I purchased, thanks again for the information.
