Title: Small blue and white bowl
Post by: Stan on May 03, 2015, 02:31:17
Hello Peter and anyone looking at this bowl, I am putting it in the other asian ceramics because I do not no for sure what it is, I was told from the estate sale that the collector found this off the coast of Japan, a shipwreck item, I can make out on the bottom what appears to be the # 36 or 56 but the rest I can not make out, it looks old and their is writing on the bowl, my question is can you tell me how old it is and what the writing is and is it Japanese, It has a lot of Chinese influence if it is Japanese, thanks.

Doing a search, it looks like the mark could be Arita Hizen, still looking for the age?

Yes, the single character that is clear is "hi" indeed. Cannot help with age.
