Post by: Stan on Feb 26, 2014, 06:34:20
Hi Peter, here is a blue and white porcelain ginger jar I recently purchased, It has a Kangxi mark and there is 5 shades of blue, there are age signs and a chip on the top lip, do you think that this is period. The hight is 29.21cm and the with is 21.59cm it looks pretty good to me. thanks from Stan.

Stan, this is Guangxu reign. Some would call it "Kangxi revival" in the west. Four character Kangxi marks were mostly used in the late Qing dynasty, during this period.
What is important is that the neck is glazed. That means also that it is Guangxu. As a rule Qing dynasty jars have an unglazed shoulder/neck, only late on were they glazed.
