Post by: shirley2015 on Feb 17, 2015, 01:46:12
I got a porcelain pot with Chinese dragon and phoenix patterns mixed western style patterns. Is it could be the Chinese export armorial porcelain stuff dating of late Qing dynasty?

Thank you Stan.

Maybe your speculation is right. But i was failed to find out the same back stamp from the pulished marks of Johnson Brothers. So it is still a mystery to me.

However, thanks for your helpful clue.

Shirley

In my book of marks there are several english marks that look similar to yours but the Johnson Brothers mark looked the closest and there marks changed over time, that makes it a little easier to date one thing I can say for sure, it is English and not Chinese.

Definitely not Chinese, not even the dragon, as far as I can see in this picture. European or a recent fake are the best bets.
