Title: 9" Handled Jug Blue & White Glaze (Flow Blue)
Post by: LGreen on Feb 13, 2015, 04:16:10
This is an unknown jug. Elements of the piece seem Chinese, but I would like to confirm. There is no signature or mark. The ceramic seems to have a stoneware feel, somewhat rough and gritty. The resist used on the bottom was uneven and primitive. The pattern almost looks stamped, and the two horses are not carefully placed and are hard to distinguish. There seems to be a clear glaze over the white and blue, as if it was dunked first in white, stamped with blue design glaze, then dunked in clear coat glaze.

I'm afraid I cannot see any Chinese elements. All including the shape is not traditional Chinese.

Perhaps I should have said Asian and put it in "other". Perhaps the general ceramic collector site will be more helpful.
