Title: Mystery Shape
Post by: clumsyeagle on Feb 08, 2015, 09:30:02
I cannot seem to find a similar shaped ceramic in searching online.  It seems to be a candle cover or a cricket cage, but I am not sure.  Also it has unusual "bumps" in the ceramic that I haven't seen.  It was a gift when from a Chinese associate when I was working in Singapore some 25 years ago.

Anybody have thoughts about identifying this piece?

Many thanks,

David

Hi Clumsyeagle, this looks like a modern piece probably was new when your friend gave it to you, maybe for a candle or incense not a cricket jar.

Not a traditional Chinese shape. Newer creations have all kinds of shapes that did not exist in the old times.
