Title: Identification help please
Post by: pnot on Feb 04, 2015, 00:13:50
Hi

Apologies If this is posted in the wrong place .. first time on here.

I am trying to identify this pot and the marks on the bottom. Never brought anything Chinese before so I have no idea where to begin.

Any advice would be appreciated

thanks
Paul

These photo's are very bad to judge age, they should be taken in natural sun light, and close ups of any age marks such as pitting, missing glaze, or cracks in the glaze from shrinking when it was fired, and good close up pictures of the blue color to see if it is under the glaze or on top, from what I can see from these photo's is an unglazed bottom with strange characters, usually writing on an unglazed bottom points to a more recent made item.

This is a fake antique, and it was not made in China. The decoration could have been made in SE Asia (Indonesia or thereabouts?). The mark characters show the person painting them had no idea of Chinese writing. The bottom shows clear signs of age faking.
