Title: Kraak plate, genuine or fake
Post by: Simonne on Feb 24, 2014, 01:32:17
Hello Peter,
Firstly, thank you for your previous responses.
What do you think about this plate, could be a real Kraak? no signs of age, I doubt, but, in the same time, I have seen porcelain pieces, very rare indeed, without these signs.
Sorry for the bad photos, I'm no so good.
Best regards,
Simonne

Judging by the decoration alone I would think this could be Japanese. The flat appearance and peculier breaks in some lines give the impression that it was at least partially printed. (The original was likely handpainted, but these copies not.)
Better and clear pictures of bottom and foot rim would be needed.
