Identify oriental mark

Hi Peter,

The crackle glaze jar with the marked on the bottom. Some website said the mark is Kutani Japan but some show as Chinese.
Please help me to identify this mark.

The mark is an apocryphal Chenghua reign mark. It is frequently used on late Qing dynasty Fangge crackle ware. However, the overall impression of this is that it is newer. Probably made in the last few decades.

Hi Peter, is Nankin the same as Fangge, or is Fangge made in Nankin?

Stan, I do not know much about that. Fangge wares are probably made in Jindgdezhen.

It seems that the term "Nanking" is used by non-Chinese only, both western and Japanese people, to describe certain items made in Jingdezhen; this in contrast to Canton wares.
Basically, Canton wares were also fired in Jingdezhen, then transported to Canton for painting the decoration there.
