This popped up today at a local estate/moving sale.

I believe this one is really Kakiemon (as opposed to the orange bowl I couldn't place from a few days ago!).

The painting is very delicate, you can feel it slightly above the background glaze as you run your finger over the plate.

There is next to no wear on the foot-rim.

I am assuming this is second half of 20th century? Thanks! KB

I think this is Kaikiemon mid 20th century, I believe that they are still producing porcelain items today, the current being a living legend in Japan.

Thank you, Stan. I thought it looked similar to the example you posted when I mislabeled that orange and blue bowl as Kakiemon (I'm still looking for the "himine" or "shimine" on that one).

This plate is much prettier in person. I am pleased to have found it on my weekend wanderings. The work is delicate, but not "washed out" if you know what I mean. It was $2.00.

As the autumn sets in, the Yard/Garage/Estate sales dry up.

So, I will be bothering you all less with my weekend "finds". :) K.

Well I will say that was a nice find, Kakiemon the 12th or 13th, the mark seems to be from the 12th around 1953.

How nice! I thought it would be much later. KB
