I have this jar that is decorated in the famille verte style.
The bottom looks of old type, there are some firing defects on bottom and cover.
There are some small chips on the glaze, few spots of rust are present, the neck is unglazed.
All these things let me think at an old piece.
Any idea is welcome.

Thank you.

Colors look very Kutani  but Chinese. It looks old and probably Late Qing IMO. The Iron red decoration looks nice.

Thank you heavenguy,
I have seen similar pieces on web that are declared to be Late Qing – Republic period.

I agree with heavenguy...the white-on-red decoration is not Chinese, in my view. Basically, the Chinese did not paint the chrysanthemum design like this. Either this is an old jar re-painted or over-painted, or it is a Japanese jar imitating some Chinese features, but only partially.
Did you note the three lines (strokes) on the inside rim of the lid?  That is found on Japanese wares, but not on Chinese ones, normally.

Hi Peter,
very interesting considerations.
Thank you.
