Powder blue Incense Burner

This has been broken and re-glued.
This was described as being French by Samson of Paris.
I was hoping it was Chinese 18th century.
Thoughts?
Was thinking of buying it.

Hi Stan - very similar shape - but looking at the two bases more clearly the Chinese one has a finer base rim.Which makes be believe that the one for sale could very well be a European take on it.

I never heard of Samson or Paris, it must be the french version of a Chinese cup.

Edm? Samson (1810-1891), founder of the ceramics firm Samson, Edm? et Cie (commonly known as Samson Ceramics), was a famous copyist (and even perhaps a forger in some cases) of porcelain and pottery. Samson began his career by making service and set piece replacements in the late 1830s. In 1845 he opened the ceramics firm Samson, with the intention of supplying reproductions of ceramics on display in museums and private collections. Designs from the factories of Meissen, S?vres, Chelsea, and Derby were among the reproductions Samson, alongside numerous reproductions of Iznik pottery, Chinese ceramics and Japanese porcelain.
