I have had this vase for a while and was wondering how old it could be. It has incised characters on the bottom. my girlfriend is Japanese and does say it is Kanji, but can only make out one character. The glaze is crazed all over, orange peel skin as well.  I'm assuming it is late 19th century minyao piece. I have seen a few examples on some european antique sites with the same bottom, clay and incised marks. Does have a chicken heart on the bottom. Any help and opinions would be great.

Are flambe and sang de boeuf pieces harder to tell than other chinese porcelain?

No one has any input what so ever? Even Peter?

This is a moder piece, the shape is modern and the glaze is sloppy, in my opinion.

I agree that it is probably recent. Any antique would not have such a bottom and mark.
It is recommended to stay away from monochromes until you have enough experience with other items to recognize authentic and fake items. It is more difficult to evaluate them.
