I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge about the markings on this tea cup I have. A Chinese friend told me it wasn't Chinese and suggested Korean rather than Japanese. Thanks for looking.

No, this is not Korean, neither is it Chinese. It has a fake Kangxi mark, though. However, the writer obviously copied a mark but has actually no idea of Chinese character strokes, just tried to copy them. It is a wonder that one still can recognize the characters; the writing is too bad from the viewpoint of Chinese writing. More likely something made in the west or SE Asia. Koreans and Japanese all can write proper Chinese characters.
