Hello all,
What are peoples thoughts on this pot?
Cant seem to find the maker but have found reference to a pot with the same makers mark.

Hi Calder, this one looks more convincing than the other one, my only observation is the tea spout itself, if you look at the one at the auction house the end of the spout is level this is correct on 19th century, yours appears to be at an angle not level or horizontal at the end of the spout.

There is a myriad of shapes and forms, Yixing wares are quite different from porcelain. And they have virtually no age signs to recognize. They usually look at the clay type to evaluate age, but it does not seem to be a reliable way. Even a Qing dynasty looks often the same as one that is only a few decades old.
Here collectors look at the shape, clay color, and mark. Marks were only regularly applied in the 20th century, many from the Qing dynasty have no marks. Well known Yixing artisan's marks are frequently faked, and collector's items are usually only a few decades old.
