Not sure if celadon is the right term. The glaze is like matte. No idea if this is Chinese so any suggestions on origin and age will be welcomed.
Thanks

Perhaps late Qing dynasty, judging by the bottom. Nor sure if it could be Japanese, though.
Generally my view is that it is better not to collect monochromes (at least not in the beginning), as there is no decoration that provides additional hints as to origin and age. The glaze and base alone are sometimes difficult to evaluate.

Thanks for the suggestion Peter.
I understand your point but I just liked it somehow. About 14" high, quite heavy. Plus, I got it for pocket money.
Should I keep researching on it or it is not worth it?

peterp

Yes, research it further, or wait some time until you see something similar.

Last bump for today Anthony.
Thanks

Anthony

For beginners, I would recommend collect colorful porcelain such as famille rose (fencai, ??). Monochromatic porcelain are reserved for someone more advanced. Entertain your eyes and you will be rewarded.

I see your point but just paid few bucks for it. That is why I am asking the advanced collectors.
