Dear Members,

Is this a late Qing famille verte vase? I am not sure if the vase is appropriate for the period.

Thank you

Bokaba

I think this would qualify for 'famille noir'.
This looks as if it was an authentic Kangxi fencai vase. That would be between 1700 and 1722. It may have had a pictorial mark.

Thanks Peter. I meant Famille Noir, not verte. I included some more pictures with the base. It did not look like the remains of a nianhao character mark, so probably is pictorial. What do you look for in the difference between a genuine Kangxi period item and a later 19th Century piece?

Thank you

Colors used, painting style, etc. You have to compare them to get to know it. Sometimes the difference is small. You also have to look at the bottom, which is often different.

Hi Bokaba, don't feel bad, I bought one too that is a little more convincing but I have my doubts, I will post for all to see.

Thank you. Stan and Peter, do you think this vase is authentic early 18th Century?

From these pictures it seems perfectly right for Kangxi, shape and colors.
