Porcelain slippers with floral decorations. They have a Kaishu four mark Guangxu mark. Are these Guangxu, Republic, or a modern production? I noticed the mark is on un-glazed porcelain that appears to have been in the sand during firing. Were they able to decorate the un-glazed portion prior to firing or was it added after?

Hi Bokaba, the decoration and shape look pretty modern to me and the porcelain looks fresh, no age signs, scratches or ware, and your right about the mark being signed on the unglazed portion, it would have been on top of the glaze.

Hi, if you say Guangxu mark this should mean it is something that was used only during the Guangxu reign, a reign mark or shop mark, etc.. This one has just a very common four character mark, saying that the item was made for collecting. Could be from anytime, and I am sure this is still used today.
