Hello everyone,
I'd be very much obliged if someone could help with identifying this little vase I have. It portrays a lady reading a book with a bird nearby. It has maker's marks in script on the bottom. It stands about 6 inches high. I think the top left symbol is 'Nian'?
Many thanks
Bob

Please try to get the vase image at least two to three times larger (80-120kB should do). The picture of the bottom is sufficient. A closeup of the face might help too.

Bottom and mark could be late Qing dynasty or early republic (it is a spurious Kangxi mark), but the face and hairdo point to early republic period.
I would like to note that my first impression was that it looked as if it were transfer printed, but the larger image shows nothing to confirm this.

Thanks for the help Peter, sorry for the delay in thanking you :)
