Any help with translating the writings? The marks on the base looks like spurious Chenghua mark?
Also, what are those children doing? Is this some kind of a game?
Thanks

Why do you think it is Japanese?
Please see the page about "exceptional reign marks". The mark is the first item on the page, although I do not think this is of the period. It is 20th century with that type of decoration.

Thanks Peter.
Shendetang?
I thought it was Japanese because the base mark looked like Japanese to me, thinly drawn.
What are the black writing on the back and the single red character saying?

peterp

Not sure what the single character is...looks like Yang to me.
The other means Picture of Playing Child(ren).

Thanks.
Forgot to say that there are turning marks on the inside of the neck. Would that indicate more recent piece?
